Fotona Laser Treatments in New Jersey | Enfield Royal Clinic
Fotona4D® is a non-invasive laser treatment method that unites two wavelengths (Er: YAG, Nd: YAG) in four treatment modes. The Fotona4D protocol, according to the manufacturer’s description, is a combination of:
- SmoothLiftin™
- FRAC3®
- PIANO®
- SupErficial™
To treat ageing at various facial layers and not use the same laser setting for all facial concerns. According to the protocol published by Fotona, it is a combination of intraoral and external facial treatment approaches that require little or no downtime. The Dynamis platform uses 2940 nm Er: YAG and 1064 nm Nd: YAG wavelengths. According to the FDA documentation for the Dynamis family, the Er: YAG wavelength is 2940 nm and the Nd: YAG is 1064 nm, and the indications for the Nd: YAG include wrinkles.
How Fotona4D Works
Fotona 4D is an advanced, non-surgical laser facial rejuvenation treatment designed to address multiple signs of skin aging in a single, comprehensive procedure. Using a combination of Er and Nd laser wavelengths, Fotona 4D works across different layers of the skin and facial tissue to support skin tightening, collagen remodeling, improved skin texture, and overall facial rejuvenation.
The treatment combines four complementary laser modalities to target both superficial and deeper tissue concerns. This multi-dimensional approach can help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, lax or loose skin, uneven skin texture, and loss of facial firmness, while promoting a smoother, more refreshed and youthful-looking complexion.
Unlike surgical facial rejuvenation, Fotona 4D is designed to provide noticeable skin rejuvenation with minimal downtime, making it an option for patients seeking gradual, natural-looking improvements without invasive surgery.
SmoothLiftin™: Intraoral Tightening
SmoothLiftin is done using the Er: YAG wavelength. Fotona calls it “a non-ablative intraoral treatment which is aimed at achieving controlled bulk heating and collagen contraction.” The goal is to perform surgery on tissue without the need for needles or surgical cuts, in the areas where the tissue is needed, like the lower face and nasolabial region. As per Fotona guidelines, the treatment causes immediate collagen-fiber shrinkage as well as stimulating new collagen production.
FRAC3®: Targeted Rejuvenation
FRAC3 employs the Nd: YAG wavelength, and the fractional effect is designed to create small areas of high temperature in the tissue. This stage is designed to work alongside the more intense tightening and to help treat any problems that are visible on the skin and to improve skin texture.
PIANO®: Deep Skin Heating
PIANO is a pulse-mode, ultra-long Nd: YAG laser. Fotona says it heats the tissue from the outside in, with the energy focusing under the skin. This stage helps tighten the entire skin for an overall tightening effect without using the surface-ablation technique used by some resurfacing lasers.
SupErficial™: Surface-Level Finishing
According to Fotona, SupErficial is a light peel of the Fotona4D protocol. This provides the treatment with a surface heating aspect in addition to the deeper heating aspect.
Treatment Areas and Concerns
Fotona 4D can be customized to address visible signs of facial aging and skin-quality concerns across the face, neck, and décolletage. Depending on your skin condition and treatment plan, the procedure may help improve firmness, texture, tone, fine lines, pore appearance, and overall skin rejuvenation through laser-based collagen stimulation.

Faqs
The number of Fotona 4D sessions varies depending on your skin condition, degree of laxity, age-related changes, and treatment goals. Your provider will recommend a personalized treatment schedule during your consultation.
Some patients may notice an initial tightening or refreshed appearance after treatment. More gradual improvements in firmness, texture, and overall skin quality develop as the skin undergoes its natural remodeling process.
Fotona 4D results develop progressively rather than immediately. Improvements can continue to develop for several months following treatment as collagen remodeling continues.
Additional sessions may build upon the improvements achieved with an initial treatment. The recommended number and timing of sessions depend on your individual skin concerns and desired results.
Fotona 4D is designed as a non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment with minimal downtime. You may experience temporary redness, warmth, or mild sensitivity, depending on the treatment settings and your individual response.
The longevity of results varies between individuals and depends on factors such as skin condition, aging, lifestyle, and skincare. Your provider may recommend periodic maintenance treatments to help preserve improvements in skin firmness and quality.
